Sego Canyon

Sego Canyon
Strange scrawled images,
haunting,
drawn
in red ochre -
stark,
smooth walls,
higher than
a human’s reach.

A quick lizard awaits
the end of day’s heat,
hidden
beneath
peckings of
ghostly humans,
spiraling snakes
and big horned sheep.

A tender
green vine
curls like a
fetus into
water washed
red rock.
